Sustainable Business

Social principles of Sustainable Business

  • We believe that it is important for businesses to give something back to the communities in which they operate. So we will contribute cash donations or volunteer time to support activities in fields of the Arts, Personal Wellbeing and Community Development.
  • We favour the purchase of Fairtrade / Organic foodstuffs and beverages for consumption within the working environment.
  • We practice enlightened employment and recruiting practices which provide opportunities for all, regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, etc.
  • We will implement practical measures to promote the Mental, Physical and Social well-being of staff employed within the business.

Economic principles of Sustainable Business

  • We favour the sourcing of goods and services from local suppliers in order to reduce transport emissions and support the local economy.
  • We support the campaign for a Living Wage for low-paid workers.

Environmental Principles of Sustainable Business

  • We favour suppliers who can demonstrate commitment to Sustainable business practices.
  • We actively seek out opportunities to reduce wastage of materials, energy and water within the working environment.
  • We will support the growth of the Circular Economy by recycling consumables such as paper and responsible disposal of items of capital equipment at end-of-life.
  • We will purchase electricity from a supplier which is committed to the production of energy from renewable means (subject to availability of supply in a given geographical location).
  • We will ensure that timber furniture, and any other timber products, are recycled or come from well-managed, sustainable sources and are Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified.
  • Minimise the need to travel through means of home working and use of modern communications technology to interact with customers.
  • We favour the use of public transport, walking or cycling for attendance at local meetings. For longer journeys, rail transport is favoured over use of private vehicles. If flying is the only practical way to get to a destination, we will contribute to a carbon offset scheme such as Climate Care.

Regulatory Compliance

  • We undertake to monitor and implement changing legal and regulatory requirements in relation to the environmental and social performance of our business.
  • We will take Sustainability issues into account when providing formal advice or practical help to our customers (even if the client has not expressly requested this).
  • We will routinely include a copy of our Sustainability Policy in all our proposals to clients.
